NIS2 compliance advice for businesses in Antwerp

The Belgian NIS2 law has applied since 18 October 2024. Since 18 April 2026, essential entities must be able to show that they are working on their security, through CyberFundamentals or ISO 27001. Even if it doesn't apply to you, you will get questions from customers it does apply to.

Who needs NIS2 compliance advice in Antwerp?

Whether your business falls under NIS2 usually depends on two things: which sector you work in, and how big your business is.

  • Sector

Including energy, transport, healthcare, drinking water, digital infrastructure, ICT services, waste management, food, chemicals and manufacturing.

  • Size

In principle from a medium-sized company: 50 staff or more than € 10 million in turnover or balance sheet total. For some sectors NIS2 applies regardless of size.

  • Supplier to a NIS2 company

It may not apply to you directly, but your customer also has to manage the risks in its supply chain. So expect questions.

  • Not sure?

With the NIS2 quick check you quickly know whether you are an essential entity, an important entity or neither.

We prepare the documents for verification or audit by an accredited body.

Questions about NIS2 compliance in Antwerp

Question not listed? E-mail us or use the chat at the bottom right.

What happens if I am not compliant?

The CCB supervises and can inspect, issue orders and impose fines. Under the European directive these can reach € 10 million or 2% of worldwide turnover for essential entities. Directors are also personally responsible.

What is CyberFundamentals?

CyberFundamentals, CyFun for short, is the Belgian framework of the Centre for Cybersecurity Belgium. It has several levels and is a recognised way to show that you are taking the NIS2 measures.

Do I need ISO 27001?

It is not mandatory. ISO 27001 is an alternative to CyberFundamentals. For most SMEs CyFun is simpler and cheaper.

Are you an accredited certification body?

No. We help you get ready for verification. The verification or certification itself is done by an accredited body.

I supply a NIS2 company. What should I do?

Your customer will ask questions about your security, or put requirements in the contract. A security audit and a few basic measures give you a strong answer.
